Revolving Door at Planet DDS: A Soul-Crushing Experience

Pros: There are some talented and kind people that still work there and you might be lucky enough to work with them. Cons: Don't Walk Away, Run! This review is a public service announcement for anyone considering a job at Planet DDS. Let me preface this by saying I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience here necessitates a warning. A Culture of Chaos: The work environment at Planet is nothing short of chaotic. Management lacks any sense of direction, leading to constant last-minute changes, unclear priorities, and a persistent feeling of scrambling to meet arbitrary deadlines. This…

Very Hostile to Ground-Level Employees

Pros: Didn't see any major examples of discrimination personally despite having heard it does occur. So, good job at least keeping up outward appearances of the bare minimum, I guess. Cons: Toxic management, arbitrary stagnancy, overwork, poor pay, the list goes on. The biggest problem with Planet DDS is that they starve their teams for resources and expect increasing output. The left hand is constantly unaware of what the right is doing, and it's almost always the rank and file left holding the bag for toxic and asinine management decisions. Forcing return to office when most of the current…

Functional Teams

Pros: Remote work and incredibly smart people who are well versed in the industry who are willing to assist in your journey. Cons: When they merged other products into their ecosystem their movement of personnel from those companies over was a mess to be a part of.

Toxic Work Environment

Pros: They do send you a lot of swag! Cons: Current upper management has created a toxic work environment where employees are hesitant and scared to speak up. Also, employees are micromanaged and expected to fall in line, not make waves, and do only what they're asked to do. Upper management plays favorites, does not appear to value experience, and prefers rather to surround themselves with people they have worked with before and/or anyone who is non-threatening to the culture they've created. Advice to management: Value your people, the experience(s) they bring with them, and empower them…

Unorganized, weak and inexperienced management

Pros: 3 stars for insurance and time off. 1 star for the overall company and leadership. Since they refer to themselves as ELT and their titles, you can tell the genuine reviews from the ones created by management. Cons: It is guaranteed that you will fail here. Despite clocking in and out, you are constantly called on your personal phone after hours and on weekends without pay. The entire sales department is usually below 40% of their quotas with the occasional good month, but you do not even get close to what you are told in your compensation plan. If they tell you that you can make a lot…

Dental Software is Broken. We are Fixing It

Pros: Strong executive team, leadership, co-workers and market clout in the Dental SaaS industry. Truly stellar corporate culture that extols collaboration, team work, not being afraid to fail and working with the most purpose Dental OS tech stack in the industry. Cons: None so far from my six months here thus far. Advice to management: Continue to empower your employees to use their creative license and work ethic to break the status quo. Continue to foster collaboration, team work and a unified mission to be the best Dentals SaaS platform in the industry. I truly appreciate the top down…

Great place to work

Pros: Management is good. They do not micro manage. This organisation gives a lot of autonomy. It is very transparent. Plenty of growth oppurtunities. Can work remotely. Cons: It is a face paced organisation. Not suitable for people who want to sit back and relax. Work life balance might be challenging few days. But the management is flexible, the extra hours can be compensated on other days.

Great People, Growth Mindset, and a Willingness to Evolve

Pros: Planet DDS has a strong culture centered around great people. Many team members are not only highly capable but also genuinely invested in improving processes and helping the company grow. It’s refreshing to work in a place where collaboration and continuous improvement are encouraged. The organization embraces a growth mindset, which means adaptability and openness to change are both valued and necessary for success here. Cons: As with any growing company, ongoing changes in team structures and responsibilities can sometimes create temporary communication challenges. However, the…

Innovative, Inclusive, and Efficient

Pros: Overall, my experience with Planet DDS has been incredibly positive. The supportive and inclusive culture fosters a collaborative environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. I highly recommend Planet DDS to anyone looking for a company that embraces technology to drive productivity and one that believes in investing in talents and celebrates individual accomplishments! Cons: It's worth noting that the fast-paced work environment can be challenging at times. While it drives productivity and innovation, it may not be suitable for everyone.

Poor Leadership, No Heart, Souless Shell

Pros: The pay was nice, coworkers were nice, friends in misery at least made things easier Cons: Leadership had no plan, 8 layoffs in 4 years. Bloated middle management that do nothing but delegate. They bought up Legwork & other software only to gut it, not invest in it, and layoff everyone whos ever worked on it. No care for the teams, the actual grunts on the ground working day to day. The CEO himself was quoted saying "employees should never feel comfortable", they want everyone to grind grind grind, meanwhile they gut teams, layoff people, have record breaking sales, but no support…

Amazing product, terrible toxic culture

Pros: The tech stack was incredibly modern and innovative. The product itself is technically impressive and was enjoyable to work on. My talented and supportive colleagues made the difference every single day. Cons: Chronic micromanagement, poor work-life balance, and a complete failure to implement Agile properly. Chronic micromanagement, poor work-life balance, and a complete failure to implement Agile properly. Personal experience working here

Pros: - Collaborative culture - Constantly looking to improve - Excellent market positioning - Strong core values - Empathetic and empowering leaders Cons: - Change occurs frequently and change management has historically been poor - Employee development and training needs improvement - Company is in the process of scaling, so there are lots of pain points that come with that. Expect challenges. Advice to management: Not all departments are equal - management issues do still occur and there are employees and leaders that do not lean in enough to accomplish our company's goals.

Great workplace, better product

Pros: - Excellent people across the organization both horizontally and vertically - Clear and transparent communication on company goals, health, progress and vision - Role dependent, but in my experience, there is a healthy work/life balance and encouragement from leadership to take time away from work to recharge - Clear goal setting initiatives and progress tracking - Continuous effort to enable growth for employees Cons: - Some departments do not get as many opportunities as others to get together in person while many employees work remotely. - Career progression within the company can…

Best company I've ever worked for

Pros: The company culture here is amazing. Every company has their value statements, but I've never worked for a company that actually lives and acts by them. Success is rewarded, failures are learning experiences, and trying new things is celebrated. The CEO has lead leadership trainings, and the company has offered numerous development programs over the years I've been here. The swag is pretty cool too. Cons: In the past, changing processes had been frequent and there had been many growing pains with the acquisition of several other companies all needing to be integrated together but much…

PlanetDDS as a company

Pros: I would say they do, employee, recognition, employee highlights, and employee engagement really well. They focus on highlighting employees, so people can get to know them, they do a recognition program, which is so awesome, and you often hear people recognizing other employees. Cons: More communication between departments I think can always be used at any company. Advice to management: People feel valued when they feel seen, so do what you are doing and more. Especially people that work in the hidden corners of a company, or work in support, those people truly are the backbone, and…

Supportive, flexible, and full of good people doing great work

Pros: Planet DDS is full of kind, talented, and motivated people who genuinely care about their work and about each other. Leadership is approachable and open to feedback. When people share ideas, you actually see them put into action, which says a lot about the culture. The company has grown in such a positive direction, with more focus on collaboration, recognition, and creating an environment where people feel supported and valued. It’s a place that trusts you to do great work, gives you the flexibility to make it happen, and lets you show up as your authentic self every day. Cons: Like…

Pros: +Provides AI tooling (and anything needed to succeed) +Organization structure has improved over the years +Standards have improved dramatically throughout the years +Opportunities to stand out (you will need to go above and beyond) +Work-life balance is ok if you are strict with boundaries +Great co-workers (good people in general) Cons: -Pay/Benefits package is lower than industry standard -Doing your job isn't really enough. Pros: I truly enjoy how supportive my colleagues are at Planet. Remote work option undermined by micromanagement and lack of trust

Pros: You have the ability to work from home if you live further away from one of the hubs. Cons: Management closely monitors employees' daily activities to the point that it feels like every moment of your workday is being tracked, creating an environment that lacks trust and autonomy. Employees are frequently assigned additional roles and responsibilities without corresponding increases in pay or benefits. Those who express concerns or push back against these expectations often feel singled out, as management appears to make examples of employees who do not readily comply. Advice to…
